Shirin Akter, a professor of the Bangla department, has been appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University yesterday.

President and Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid appointed her for four-year term.

The first female Pro-VC of the university took the charge yesterday.

The post had been vacant since June last year.
