State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid on Saturday students of petroleum and mining engineering at different universities will be able to avail internships at different organisations under the power, energy and mineral resources ministry.
He made the remarks while addressing a seminar on “Potentials of Petroleum and Mining Engineering in Bangladesh” at Jessore University of Science and Technology in Jessore.
The junior minister said that his ministry will offer 500 internships to university students across the country.
“The students of petroleum and mining engineering will get the same opportunity of availing the internship,” he told the seminar.
The seminar, with Vice Chancellor of the Jessore University of Science and Technology Prof Dr. Abdus Sattar in the chair, was also addressed by Dhaka University Professor Badrul Imam and chairman of petroleum and mining engineering Dr. Tofael Ahmed.
Nasrul Hamid said that the victory in the maritime boundary dispute has brought immense potentials of job opportunity for the petroleum and mining engineering students.
“Now, students will have to lay importance on enhancement of their practical knowledge,” he said.
He observed that students are facing problems when they enter into the job market. But internship can resolve this problem.
But the educational institutions have not succeeded in instiolling the professionalism in the students through improving their mindset.
