At least seven people were killed and 25 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway in Madaripur district on Friday afternoon.

Madaripur Sadar thana OC Ziaul Morshed said a Barisal-bound bus from Dhaka of ‘Sugandhya Paribahan’ fell into the ditch breaking the railing of a bridge in Samaddarpara area at about 3pm, leaving five dead on the spot.

On information, members of Fire Service and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured bus passengers. Later, they were sent to different hospitals.
