West Bengal police rounded up 7,962 people in different parts of the Indian state yesterday.
Inspector General Anuj Sharma of West Bengal police said law enforcers also recovered 85 weapons, 201 bullets, 65 kg explosives, 653 crude bombs and huge amount of drugs.
The arrests came in the wake of recent militant attacks in Dhaka and Kishoreganj of Bangladesh that left over a couple of dozen people dead.
The West Bengal government is ready to thwart any subversive activities. It has issued arrest warrants against 1,500 people, Sharma added.
He, however, did not say whether the law enforces would continue with the drive.
