Construction of a 10-storied hall for 1000 male students of Jagannath University (JnU) will begin on 2017 at Keranigonj, Dhaka.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today sat with the teachers of Jagannath University (JnU) to resolve the university’s ongoing accommodation crisis.
They are also discussing the university’s overall situation that started at the home ministry of the Secretariat in the morning.
The decision of the meeting came following a continuous demonstration staged by the JnU students demanding residential halls.
The students began their demonstration on August 2 for new halls on the land where the Dhaka Central Jail was previously situated on Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka.
On August 17, the students staged a sit-in in front of the Jatiya Press Club after their attempts to lay siege to the education ministry was foiled by police.
Currently, around 21,000 students are studying at JnU.
