English is a common course for all group of students in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination.
Change the narrative style of the following text.
Exercise-1
The girl said to the teacher, 'Sir, I shall be grateful if you kindly lend me the book you praised highly in the classroom yesterday.' The teacher said, 'I have become really happy to know that you are eager to read this book. You are welcome to any of my books that you like.' 'Thank you, sir,' said the girl. 'You are welcome,' said the teacher.
Answer: Addressing him as sir, the girl respectfully told the teacher that she would be grateful if he kindly lent her the book he had praised highly in the classroom the previous day. The teacher said that he had become really happy to know that she was eager to read that book. He added that she was welcome to any of his books that she liked. The girl thanked him politely. Then the teacher told her that she was welcome.
Exercise-2
The teacher said to the girl, 'Do you think that honesty is the best policy?' The girl said, 'Yes, sir, I think so.' ' Then learn to be honest from your childhood,' said the teacher. 'Thank you, sir,' said the girl. 'May Allah bless you,' said the teacher.
Answer: The teacher asked the girl if she thought that honesty is the best policy. The girl respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that she thought so. Then the teacher advised her (s) to learn to be honest from her childhood. The girl respectfully thanked him (t). The teacher prayed that Allah might bless her.
Exercise-3
'I've got GPA-5 in the SSC examination,' said Rafiq. 'Congratulations, brother!' I said. 'What do you intend to do now?' 'I want to study science in a reputed college. I've a dream to get admission in Dhaka Medical College after my HSC,' Rafiq replied.
Answer: My brother Rafiq said that he had got GPA-5 in the SSC examination. I congratulated my brother. I asked him what he intended to do then. Rafiq replied that he wanted to study science in a reputed college and added that he had a dream to get admission in Dhaka Medical College after his HSC.
Exercise-4
'Have you killed the rats?' said the Mayor. 'Yes, I have,' said the piper. 'Give me the promised money.' 'How funny!' said the Mayor. 'We cannot give you so much money. Take only fifty.'
Answer: The Mayor asked the Piper if he (p) had killed the rats. The Piper replied in the affirmative that he had killed the rats and also requested him (m) to give him (p) the promised money. The Mayor exclaimed with wonder that it was very funny. He (m) also said that they could not give him (p) so much money and offered him to take only fifty.
Exercise-5
What's your programme after the examination?' asked Salam. Kamal said, 'I've not yet decided. Can you suggest any?' 'Let us go on a picnic,' said Salam. 'What an excellent idea! I shall certainly join you,' said Kamal.
Answer: Salam asked Kamal what his (k) programme was after the examination. Kamal replied that he (k) had not decided till then. He (k) asked Salam if he (s) could suggest any. Salam proposed that they should go on a picnic. At this Kamal exclaimed with joy that it was an excellent idea and ensured that he (k) would certainly join him (s).
Exercise-6
'How shall I treat you?' Alexander asked Purus. 'You must treat me in the same way as one king treats another,' replied Puru boldly.
Answer: Alexander asked Puru how he should treat him. Puru boldly replied that he (A) had to treat him (P) in the same way as one king treated another.
