The deceased was identified as Mosharaf Hossain, 50, a lecturer of the Mahorkaya Degree College in Lalpur upazila.

He is a son of Mohammad Ali of Peergacha village in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi, our Natore correspondent reports quoting police.

The criminals fired at Mosharaf and tried to snatch his motorbike when he was returning home from his college in Badlibari area around 01:00pm, Tawhid Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalpur police station told the correspondent.

Locals rushed Mosharaf to Lalpur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The motive of the murder could not be known immediately but police primarily suspected that snatchers might have shot the teacher for snatching his motorbike.
