Veteran Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta died at Labaid hospital in Dhaka early today.

He breathed his last around 4:00am, Dr Saifur Rahman Lenin, assistant general manager (corporate communications) of the hospital.

He was suffering from cancer for long which collapsed his central nervous system and for this reason his lung was not functioning, the doctor said.

Suranjit was on life support at the hospital since last night.

Funeral of Suranjit Sengupta will be held at Dirai, Sunamgong.

He has completed his Honors and Master degree from the university of Dhaka.

He has been elected as the member of parliament in 7 seven times from his own constituency.
