The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has made some corrections for some of the textbooks which contain errors. The corrections came five and half months after the start of the academic calendar.

Six corrections have been made in five books of the primary level, two NCTB officials told. 

The poem ‘Adarsha Chhele’ written by Kusumkumari Das, which was published with errors in 'Amar Bangla Book' for Grade-III pupils, has been corrected.

Another correction was made to the ‘Bangladesh O Biswaparichay’ book of the same grade, where Bangabandhu’s mother’s name was published as Saira Begum, and now has been corrected as Saira Khatun in page 58. One other correction had to be made to the ‘Hindu Dharma and Naitik Shikkha’ (Hindu Religion and Moral Teaching) of the English version of Grade-III again, where ‘hurt’ was spelt as ‘heart’. 'Amar Bangla Book' for Grade-I pupils had a correction of ‘mou’, which was replaced by ‘mow’ in page 53. 'Amar Bangla Book' for Grade-V had a change as ‘Sadud’ was corrected to ‘Samudra’.‘Bangladesh O Biswaparichay’ book for the same grade had a change. The word ‘ghoshana’ (announcement) was misspelled there, and that has been corrected in page 2.

At the beginning of January this year, the government distributed nearly 362,182,285 textbooks among about 4.25 crore students between pre-primary and secondary levels for the 2017 academic session.

However, numerous spelling and printing mistakes were detected in the textbooks.
