Police detained 26 people including five Dhaka University students allegedly for taking drugs and staying at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka last night defying restriction.

The DU students are Rezaul Haque Chowdhury of law department, Ariful Islam of botany department, Foysal Haque of Institute of Renewable Energy, Anowar Hossain of Bangla department, and Sujan Sarder of music department.

Meanwhile, Jagannath University student, Shamsuddin Ahmed, a vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s JnU unit is also among the detainees, said Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station.

Contacted, DU Proctor Amzad Ali said he came to know about the matter.

"We will take further steps after verifying their identities ", he added.
