ইংরেজ উচ্চারণ রীতিতে একটি লক্ষণীয় বিষয় এই যে, Consonant এর আগের R কখনো উচ্চারিত হয় না। এই জন্য Market এর উচ্চারণ মার্কেট নয় মাকেট হবে।
কিন্তু Vowel এর পরে R অবশ্যই উচ্চারিত হবে। যেমন, Chapter এর উচ্চারণ চাপ্টা নয় চাপ্টার বা চ্যাপ্টার হবে ।
Articale "a" এর উচ্চারণ ‘এ’ নয় ‘আ’ হবে । The এর উচ্চারণ Vowel এর আগে ‘দি’ এবং Consonant এর আগে ‘দ্য’ হবে। অনেকেই ভুল করে সব জায়গায় ‘দি’ উচ্চারণ করে থাকেন যা সঠিক নয়।
